The short answer is that it’s very hard to lose any citizenship, certainly for just being an expat. While a few countries require you to check-in every once in awhile, or impose restrictions on dual citizenship, or forbid working for foreign militaries or governments, living overseas by itself won’t cancel your citizenship.
