As of recently, one Caribbean country is entering the fray as a cheap citizenship by investment program.
Up until 2017, Dominica was the one that dominated the scene thanks to the fact that you only needed to invest $100,000 and become a citizen in a matter of months.
Unfortunately, Andrew can witness firsthand that getting second citizenship in Dominica is much easier said than done since there are numerous bureaucratic hoops to jump through.
However, St.Lucia might be the latest answer to the question where to find the cheapest second passport.
This island in Eastern Caribbean changed the rules that will apply to anyone wanting their citizenship.
Before, you had to have proof that you’re a multi-millionaire to even be taken into account, but the tables have turned.
Now, St. Lucia citizenship will require a mere $100,000 donation – the same as nearby Dominica – to become an economic citizen in a matter of four months.
Not only that but the government announced to make the entire process of applying for their economic citizenship much easier on the applicants, which is a more than a welcome perk.
Nothing is still set in stone when it comes to St. Lucia’s citizenship by investment, but if they deliver on their promises, they will definitely be the country that has the cheapest second passport.
