Just want to say hello to my future expats. If you’re filing for residency in the Dominican Republic through the NYC consulate you will have to bring a large bag of patience. Once you arrived you will need to register on line before 30 days.
There are more paperwork to be done. You will have to take out an insurance that is for the purpose of your denial of residency. If your application gets rejected it will help pay the way back to your country. It is only good for a year. All of your original paperwork will have to be resubmitted all over again and translated.
I want to clarify about a woman married to an Dominican man. You must reside in the country for at least five years prior to file for residency. However you don’t have to go through the temporary process.
The cost is as follows:
$1000 rd per page to get translated
$6000 rd for the insurance
$10000 rd for the filing
If you file after the 30 days of arrival there is a penalty fee. I’ll update this page once I find out.
