Fourteen students from European countries and Silpakorn University International College have been invited to participate in a two-week residency programme organised by EUNIC from September 26 to October 9, 2022, in Bangkok. Under the theme of Exchange Rate, this year’s programme aims to support cultural and artistic exchange, nurture experimentation and support the creation of new collaborative work.
Seven European students from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom and seven students from Silpakorn University International College, who work in different disciplines, including photography, video, graphic design, architecture, performance and music, had the opportunity to examine issues such as sustainability in a post-pandemic era, diversity, urbanity and public spaces collaboratively.
European and local participants shared their artistic approaches during the residency and worked in pairs to produce new artworks. The residency culminated in a multidisciplinary art exhibition at Galerie Oasis on October 7-9, 2022.
Exchange Rate was organised by the EUNIC cluster Bangkok and the Embassies of Austria, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, the British Council and the Goethe-Institut. EUNIC – European Union National Institutes for Culture – is the European network of organisations engaging in cultural relations. Through culture, EUNIC strives to build trust and understanding between the people of Europe and the wider world.
