Based on popular demand, I finally decided to tell you guys about what it takes to apply for Cape Verdean residency. It’s really not a difficult process as you’re given a list of all the documents you’ll need as well as a time frame of 3 months to get all your documents.

Here is a list of the things you will need as well as cost for applying for residency in English
[Please note that some of these requirements may change depending on when you apply for residency.]
1. A valid passport (Should be at least 6 months before expiration).
2. Two passport photographs.
3. Police certificate from your country (Very important). This document has to be translated into Portuguese if it’s not from a Portuguese speaking country.
4. Proof of funds (This is not needed if you have a work contract).
5. Valid work contract (Processed at the Ministry of Works).
6. House contract in your name. (Otherwise you’ll be asked to pay 1600cve at Polícia Fronteira).
7. Medical certificate (Cost 1000cve at the time. Depends on where it’s done).
8. international vaccine certificate (Could also be done here for 1000cve if you have none).
9. Photocopy of previous Visa stamps.
10. Residency certificate from your local municipality known as Câmara Municipal (Depends on where you live. Cost 440cve at the time).
11. Photocopy of Tax Identification Number (Called NIF).
12. Social security registration document.
13. Cape Verdean police record (Cost 550cve at the time).
14. Residency application document from the National Police (Cost 550cve at the time).
15. Residency application document from the Judiciary Police (Cost 400cve at the time).
16. Residency application fee 11600cve.
