The island’s Chief Medical Officer, on August 13, confirmed the detection of the Delta Variant strain of the
COVID-19 virus in Saint Lucia. The Delta Variant is said to be up to 90% more contagious than the original
COVID-19 virus. Three people including a Saint Lucian national recently contracted the Delta Variant. Health
Authorities are urging unvaccinated Saint Lucians to line up for the jab or risk severe disease and even death.
