STRIKE ACTION FORCES 1ST NATIONAL BANK TO EFFECT ISLAND WIDE BRANCH CLOSURES

Customers hoping to do business with 1ST National Bank on Monday were greeted by “closure notices” which were plastered on the entrances of each of the bank’s eight branches. The notice explained the island wide closures were due to, “…circumstances beyond [their] control…”
As a consequence, thousands of 1ST National Bank customers were unable to transact business. MBC Prime has learned 1ST National Bank employees across the bank’s eight branches did not report for work on Monday. The mass sick out, according to employee sources, is linked to the alleged firing of a 1ST National Bank staff member last week.
The National Workers Union represents 1ST National Bank employees. The Union did not respond to our requests for comment.
Meanwhile, 1ST National Bank says it is, “…working assiduously… to provide…in-branch service at the earliest opportunity…”
However, it is unclear when normal bank services will resume.
