Patiño Vázquez & Los Sugar Kings were Arts Council of Tamworth’s late spring Art Connects Us artists in residence. Patiño worked with K-8th graders and community members of all ages, teaching about Cuban rhythms and first salsa dance steps. He was jointed by band members on the second day and Los Sugar Kings played two extraordinary concerts, one at the school, one at The Barnstormers Theatre. Audience members at both had a chance to try out their new dance moves! Here, students practice the steps they’ve just learned.
