legend has it that a dutch sailor in netherland’s indie (Indonesia) during the 17th century was too broke and he desperately wanted to go home. he met a british ship owner and persuaded him to take him on board. in return he would give two nutmegs as his payment. these nutmegs found their way to grenada and became to foundation of nutmeg crops in the country and the rest is history.
