Green Card Backlog 2022 | Will Wait Time Ever Be Reduced?

Green Card backlog increases an additional 5,000 in June.

The National Visa Center’s (NVC) backlog of green cards increased this month, rising by 5,350 cases from 421,126 in May to 426,486 in June.

The average number of cases awaiting an interview in 2019 was 60,866, according to the NVC. As a result, the NVC backlog is now growing at a rate that is greater than seven times the monthly average for 2019.

Along with the growing backlog, there was a negligible increase in the number of scheduled interviews, which went from 28,447 in May to 28,554 in June, an increase of less than 0.5 percent. The number of scheduled interviews has fluctuated over the past year, going from a high of 34,408 cases in July 2021 to a low of 24,158 cases in December 2021.
