What are the rights acquired through a residency permit? | Citizenship Invest

A residency permit allows to legally reside in the host country without being a citizen.

Residents are entitled to live, work, go to school and access health care in the host country.

After a number of years and complying with certain requirements, which could be living in the country for a certain amount of time and learning the language, some countries grant citizenship.

Portugal is one of the most popular programs in the world as the applicant obtains a residency permit, over a period of 5 years (has to visit Portugal – no reside), therefore only visit the country a couple of times and after 5 years they can apply for citizenship. Portugal is part of the European Union so citizens can reside in any country within the EU.
