The “unknown” Caribbean – The Island of Nevis
From the incredible mango festival through to some of the kindest people on earth, Nevis in my opinion is the cultural capital of conscious living. Nestled between its unbroken shores lies everything from the infamous Killer Bee cocktail to the economic game changers of IBCs. It is a country that never ceases to amaze me. It is also home to a remarkable Global Indian community who call its sun swept shores home!
Today I am joined by friend and Premiere of this incredible destination, H.E Mark Brantley, as he guides me through how the island has been able to retain its authenticity in an ocean of dramatic change. We also look at the growing friendship it has with India and why there is a need for a transformation in the current politics at play in St Kitts to help restore the balance and integrity that the islands deeply deserve.
About H.E Premiere Mark Brantley
Mark Brantley (born 11 January 1969) is the Premier of Nevis and former Minister of Foreign Affairs for St Kitts and Nevis. On May 10, 2022, Dr Timothy Harris, having lost the support of the elected majority to function as Prime Minister and facing a historic Motion of No Confidence in the National Parliament, decided to dissolve the Parliament and purported to revoke the appointment of more than 50% of his former Cabinet, including the Hon Mark Brantley.[1] Honourable Brantley previously served as the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis (2007 – 2015). He is married and has 2 daughters.
