Hello, Welcome to US Immigration Updates. If you’ve applied for any type of U.S. visa, then you know that getting a hold of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) can be a challenge. The federal agency for years has wrestled with a massive backlog of visa applications, made worse by office closures and staffing shortages during the pandemic, but now U S C I S is coming up with initiatives to reduce backlogs. H-1B visa hopefuls have reason to cheer as US Citizenship and Immigration Services (U S C I S) is taking steps to clear backlog. The agency is shifting some of the workload to the California Center from Vermont Service Center in response to H-1B receipt issuance delays. “This workload transfer will help us issue receipt notices for properly filed H-1B petitions more quickly,” the agency said. Visa processing across categories slowed down on account of the huge backlog and shortage of staff at service Centers. The H-1B visa lottery process was completed in May after which the selected applicants were required to submit applications to be eligible to start working in the US from October 1 this year. Several applications pertain to visa extensions and delays will make such applicants ineligible for working in the United States. US Congresswoman Mia Love told Senate Judiciary Committee that the programme hasn’t kept pace with an increasing number of applications and that there was a need to increase application approvals.
