What is EB-5?

EB-5 (Employment Based Immigration, 5th Preference) is a U.S. government program designed to promote job growth in America. It does this by inviting entrepreneurs outside of the United States to invest in certain pre-approved business projects, with the goal of adding at least 10 U.S. jobs within 2 years as a result. In exchange, the investor and his or her family will be eligible for U.S. Visas (Green Cards). Additionally, the spouses of the investor and any children under 21 years of age also qualify for Green Cards.
Who is qualified for EB-5?

In order to meet the requirements for Green Card status under the EB-5 program, foreign investors must invest financially in a for-profit business concern in the United States. The amount of the required investment varies. For most businesses, an investment of 1 million dollars is usually required. However, for areas that are considered Targeted Employment Areas (TEA), the mandatory investment is just $500, 000 dollars. A TEA area is one that is rural in location or experiencing economical hardship. All investment amounts, regardless of location, are valued at current United States market rates.
