
With the rising tensions between the United States and Russia that have occurred within the last decade, combined with the conflicts the U.S. is experiencing with China many have discussed how a new Cold War has developed between countries within the former Soviet sphere of influence and the United States. Two countries that have been particularly plagued with negative press in the face of such politics are Cuba and Venezuela. Both countries have attempted economic models that have challenged the capitalist norm that dominates world markets. Our guest has recently visited both countries and will give us a view not shared often about how these countries are surviving under strict U.S. sanctions.
