Vanuatu National Youth Council (VNYC) produced this video as part of the current National Youth Authority Bill Awareness Campaign.

The Campaign aims to:
– develop public support and understanding of the Bill
– ensure the bill is tabled and passed in Parliament to become an Act

In the video, Joe Kalo, Principal Administrator of VNYC, introduces the Bill and then a number of young people from around Vanuatu share their opinion of the Bill.

The Vanuatu National Youth Council is the peak non-government, non-political, not for profit youth organisation in Vanuatu, established in 2009, to represent, engage and empower young people. The Council acts as an umbrella to connect multiple levels of the Vanuatu government, NGOs, service providers and international groups to ensure the voices and views of young people are included in decision making for Vanuatu and the Pacific region.

The Bill Campaign program is being implemented by VNYC with the support of the Ministry of Youth Development, Sports & Training and the Pacific Leadership Program (PLP) – VNYC’s activities on the Youth Policy are funded by PLP as part of its support for future developmental leadership. PLP is a regional initiative of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade that recognises the pivotal role of leadership in development. PLP builds, applies and shares knowledge on developmental leadership i.e. individuals, organisations and other stakeholders working together on inclusive policy and institutional change for the public good. PLP works at the regional level, including with regional organisations; and nationally and sub-nationally in four countries – Solomon Islands, Vanuatu,
Samoa and Tonga.
