E-2 treaty investor visa – nonimmigrant visa that allows you to do business in the US for 2 years. You can extend it by 2 years every time. It allows you to bring your family too – your spouse (who will have the work permit) and your kids who are under 21 years old (they can go to school in the US).
Criteria for the E-2 visa:
• You need to invest $100K+ to start your business or you can purchase an existing business in the US.
• You can provide proof of funds. You can show how you’ve made it and all the transfers from the origin to your business in the US.
• Your business in the US won’t be marginal and it will make an economic impact on the US economy. This means you will hire employees or make a profit from your business. Sure, you can do both.
• You promise that you’ll leave the US after finishing your business enterprise.
