Hi! I’m Stanislav Shamayev, licensed business immigration and corporate attorney in Miami. I will speak about an event that happened in the US immigration laws – the reform of EB-5 investor visas. EB-5 visa program provides a method for immigrant investors to become permanent residents—known as “Green Card” holders—by financing a business in the US.
In 2019, the new laws came into effect and we got different numbers entering the program. Instead of $500K and $1 000 000, there were $900K and $1 800 000.
In 2020, one of the Regional Centers sued the USCIS claiming that the government didn’t follow the proper procedures to implement the new EB-5 laws.
Before Trump left Office, he disattached the EB-5 program from the budget of Congress. This means that when Congress used to vote on its budget, it automatically voted on the EB-5 program.
In 2022 Congress voted on the new bill and made a reform of the pilot program EB-5 for Regional Centers.
