What happens when your temporary I-551 stamp expires while you are overseas?
In this video, Joseph shares how we helped an EB-5 investor facing this exact legal problem, and what we did to secure a safe return to the U.S.
The Story:
Our team met our client in Mexico and accompanied him to the U.S. border to meet with the CBP officer. Once we explained the situation and why the client was a returning LPR, the CBP officer reviewed all the documents, adjudicated the case and permitted re-entry into the country.
About the I-551 stamp:
The I-551 stamp is temporary evidence proving the permanent residency status of foreign nationals. It is obtained by individuals who have applied for a renewal Green Card, but have not yet received their card.
About the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program:
USCIS administers the EB-5 program. Under this program, investors (and their spouses and unmarried children under 21) are eligible to apply for a Green Card (permanent residence) if they:
Make the necessary investment in a commercial enterprise in the United States; and
Plan to create or preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified U.S. workers.
