ADF helps upgrade Vanuatu National Emergency Network

The Australian Defence Force has partnered with the Vanuatu Police Force to repair and upgrade essential communication infrastructure across Vanuatu’s many islands. It’s the second phase of the Vanuatu-Australia Defence Cooperation Program.

The project is a joint partnership between the Governments of the Republic of Vanuatu and Australia to reconstruct Vanuatu’s national emergency radio communication network after severe damage from Tropical Cyclone Pam in May 2015, exacerbated by Tropical Cyclone Harold in April 2020.

Communication capability has been enhanced with the installation of radio and solar power systems across the Vanuatu archipelago, whilst also delivering operator, procedural, and maintenance training to protect the longevity of the newly installed systems.
