We arrive in Antigua after a 7-day passage from Newport Rhode Island and then sail to Barbuda with full mainsail and Code D. Arrival in a new country keeps changing with COVID-19, and in Antigua being vaccinated is the passport to easy and quick entry. We had submitted all of our entry documents, including PCR test in advance so getting the paperwork right also helps. After being cleared in we moved to Slipway marina to wash the boat, and then took a relaxing long-weekend vacation in Barbuda. We had a beautiful downwind sail with the mainsail and Code D. In Barbuda we swim and snorkel in the crystal clear turquoise water. Sadly, the shallow coral reefs in the bay were complete bleached, and also looked like they had suffered hurricane damage when Irma devastated the Island. The overgrowth of algae suggest that they may never come back. Too sad and such a warming for the world. ON our first night Pierre shows his Mr. fix-it skill’s again. Lisa’s electronic piano got just a few drops of salt water on it during the passage, just enough to disrupt the keys from making the proper sound (each key was a cacophony of noise – making the piano impossible to play). Pierre disassembled the piano, washed the electronics in fresh water, put it back together again. Voila! Working again!!!
