Key Information for your stay in a MIQ Facility (Isolation Facility)
Hello and Kia Ora – Welcome to New Zealand.
We thank you for helping our Horticulture and viticulture industry.
New Zealand has very few COVID-19 cases and we are trying to keep it that way. To help us protect the country, we have a system of Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) to prevent new cases of COVID-19.
To help you with your stay in a MIQ facility – please take note of the following information
1/ Do not leave the MIQ Facility
You must stay in the MIQ facility for the entire 14 days and you cannot leave for any reason.
2/ COVID Tests
You will be tested for Covid-19 on day 3 and day 12 by a nurse who will take a swab from your nose.
3/ Stay in your Room
On the first day of your stay, you will be paired up with another person to share your room.
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 You and your roommate must remain inside your room at all times unless you are going to the outdoor area for exercise or for smoking.
4/ No Visitors
No visitors – don’t let anyone else in your room.
5/ Wear a Mask
You can leave your room for planned exercise or smoking, but always wear a mask when outside your room. You will be given masks to wear. Here is the correct way to put on a mask.
6/ Maintain Two Meters Distance
When you are outside your room, stay two meters away from everyone. Keep your distance at all times.
7/ Three Meals a Day Provided
You will get three meals a day delivered to your room free – breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Remember – you must eat in your room.
8/ Get Exercise
You can exercise in your room but there is also an area for exercise outside. You can go there for walking – but keep 2 meters from everyone else there.
9/Book time for a Smoke outside
Don’t smoke in your room.
If you want to smoke – you must book in a time to go to the smoking area outdoors.
10/ Do not share anything
When outside for a smoke break – smoke in allocated areas and DO NOT SHARE cigarettes, lighters, food, or drink or anything -with anyone.
11/ Protect Yourself and others
COVID-19 is still a threat. To protect yourself and others remember to:
wash and sanitise your hands regularly, especially before leaving or going back into your room.
wear a mask at all times outside your room, such as in corridors.
12/ Tell staff if you are sick
If you feel sick or unwell at any time, please tell the staff and you will get medical care.
13/ Leave on Day 14 if tests are clear
After 14 days, you can leave and go to your job – if you are healthy and pass the day 12 test for Covid-19.
You can find more information about your stay in MIQ in the information pack that has been provided to you.
We wish you well with your stay and working season. God bless and keep safe.
