The Old Manor Hotel retains its old-world grace.

The forested plot of land on which the hotel sits was granted in 1690 by the king of England. This was done to encourage immigration to the Caribbean islands at little cost to the crown, whilst also securing revenue for the crown.

In 1900 the Gillespie brother’s legally transferred title of Old Manor Estate to Mr Croney. The estate thrived as a working sugar cane and cotton plantation until 1936 when the steam mill quit.

It eventually became The Old Manor Hotel.
The Great House was completed in 1832 and was then damaged in the historical hurricane of 1898. It was rebuilt in 1906 with winnings from the Trinidad horse race prize money, and good crop income. A 1967 National Geographic article declared that the Great House at Old Manor Hotel was the “Longest continually lived in Great House”.
