Most people who use the Golden Visa in Portugal are using it for real estate. One important change coming in Jan 2022, is the following; Lisbon (including the Silver Coast), Porto, and the Algarve will no longer be eligible for the Golden Visa. These three places are the hottest spots for tourists and for short term rentals. And, each has an international airport. So, if you are wanting to use the Golden Visa to buy property in one of these areas, you will need to get here in 2021 to get the ball rolling.
