Major security issues in the Americas such as drug financed criminal networks, interference from external actors, and the spread of disinformation do not respect national boundaries and have a direct impact on political stability, corruption, and migration. The 2022 Summit of the Americas provides a unique opportunity to consider a more comprehensive view of security that goes well beyond protecting borders and embraces human security concerns as well. This event assesses the most pressing security concerns facing the region and provides recommendations for how to leverage the forum to strengthen regional cooperation on security matters.
