Through Live & Learn’s Peace Education Program, children in the Pacific are developing the knowledge, skills, attitudes and confidence to speak out and participate in their communities to create peaceful societies. These children from Port Villa, Vanuatu, are speaking out about what peace means to them!
Live & Learn is working with the Ministry of Education, teachers, children, youth and the media in Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji and Papua New Guinea to develop a peace education toolkit called ‘Be Your Future!’ Live & Learn is seeking financial assistance to enable translation of our educational materials into French so that all students will benefit from the materials.
Background to the project:
In Pacific communities, discrimination against children and the cultural stigma regarding the role of children means they are often marginalized. In some regions in the Pacific, children are exposed to conflict, violence, neglect and abuse. This results in the children having limited opportunities to meaningfully participate in their communities — limited opportunities to develop and grow as engaged citizens.
This project is partially funded by the European Union.
