The Dominica High Court will hear the habeas corpus petition submitted on behalf of diamantaire Mehul Choksi, who is wanted in India for an alleged Rs 13,500 crore loan fraud case involving Punjab National Bank. The case was rescheduled for June 3 after judge Bernie Stephenson issued an order requiring his appearance before a magistrate after nearly three hours of hearing on the petition alleging that the businessman was kidnapped from Antigua and Barbuda and forcibly hauled to the Caribbean island nation. After a suspected love escapade with his rumoured lover, the diamantaire abruptly vanished on May 23 from Antigua and Barbuda, where he had been a citizen since 2018, he was apprehended in Dominica for illegal entry.
