Do UN Resolutions Progress Gender Equality at the National Level?

This webinar will provide an overview of global priorities to accelerate gender equality, including by means of UN resolutions, treaties and platforms. It will explore the role of UN Women as the United Nations entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women, and consider the effectiveness of UN mechanisms in promoting gender equality in the Pacific region.

Sarah Boxall is the Economic Empowerment of Women Specialist for the Asian Development Bank’s Pacific Private Sector Development Initiative and the non-executive director for UN Women Australia.

A passionate advocate for gender equality, she has over 20 years’ experience in international cultural exchange, education and development in a range of organisations including government, multilaterals, universities and not-for-profits in Australia and overseas. She has lived and worked in Fiji, France, Solomon Islands, the United Kingdom and Vanuatu.

Prior to joining ADB, Sarah was based in Fiji where she held senior leadership roles as Deputy Country Representative for UN Women’s Fiji Multi-Country Office, CARE International’s Pacific Regional Programs Director and as Deputy Team Leader of the Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development Support Unit. Sarah worked for the Australian Government (AusAID/DFAT) in a range of roles including in the Fragile States Unit and Multilaterals Effectiveness section. She was posted to the Solomon Islands working on the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI).

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Social Science and a Master of International Social Development.
