Have you ever heard about citizenship by exception?
Sometimes countries will grant citizenship to people who do extraordinary things for that country. What are these extraordinary things you might wonder?
It can be, well almost anything! The most common citizenship by exception is given to professional athletes, scientists, and big investors.

Countries have different paths to citizenship: being born in the country, your parents or grandparents having citizenship of that country (citizenship by descent), naturalziation after you’ve lived in the country for some time, marriage with a person from that country might grant you a faster route to citizenship, citizenship by investment and finally citizenship by exception.

Citizenship by exception is not that uncommon actually. Mostly when you hear about it it’s related to sports players, but not only them.

Can you get citizenship this route? Yes, you absolutely can.
If you have the right connections and are willing to contribute a substantial amount of money to the country, the government can grant you a passport by exception.
Please note that this is NOT the same citizenship by investment, because there is no clear path to obtain citizenship by exception and it’s at the discretion of the government.
