SEVEN POINTS IN SPANISH SEPHARDIC CITIZENSHIP , 2019
Many of you ask to us about the requirements for citizenship and transmit to us some of the doubts you have about this process:
1.- When is the deadline to submit the documents to Ministry of Justice online? October 1, 2019. Is our Law Firm accepting files until that time? YES. We will be submitting files until 1st of october, as the 2015 Sephardic Law permits.

2.- It is possible to apply for Citizenship with some USA Jewish Congregations’ Certificates of Sephardic Origin? (FJNM or OrVe Shalom, for example), and not having the FCJE (Federación de Comunidades Judías de España) Certificate? YES. The Law permits it. We advise to apply always to FCJE also, and it will be possible to add the FJCE later, once the process will be started in Ministry of Justice in the electronic application or in Notary.

3.- It is possible to add documents to the file once the process has started? YES. Our Spanish Administrative Procedure Law 2015 (Ley 39/2015) permits it, and specially, by the electronic register of the Ministry of Justice. In fact, we advise it: if some documents are long or you could not add it in the beginning, it is possible to do it. We have done in many of our ordinary files we have in Immigration in our Law Firm, and for Sephardic Citizenship will be the same.

4.- What about CCSE and, in his case, DELE exams, if you can not pass it before October 1. It will be possible to pass it later and to add to your file? YES. In fact, the FJCE has announced it in the web, and technically, using the Administrative Procedure Law of Spain of 2015, it is possible to do it. It is better to pass before submitting in Notary. But there is a technical solution if you do later.

5.- The Genealogical reports and to add it to the file, if they are long: there is a solution if some of the reports are long and you have FJCE , OrVeShalom or specially FCJE Certificate, and it can be added later also.

6.- Proofs about the “vinculation with Spain”: in addition to the usual ones you are having (donations, trips to Spain…), try also to check if you studied at school Spanish Literature or Spanish Culture, and to get this certificate from your school or high school.

7.- And the main question: FJCE Certificate is obligatory? We advise always to get it, as is an official and important proof. But the Law permits to apply with other official register Jew communities certificates, and Government will value all documents “together”, all you have submitted to your file.

We will explain each of this points and others in our next videos.

We encourage all of you with this process.

Kind regards.
