In December 2020, Congress decided to separate the EB-5 regional centre programme from the government spending bill (ending its reauthorization on the 30th June 2021) and Senator Chuck Grassley recently introduced the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act.

There are numerous benefits of investing through a regional centre rather than directly in a project.

– Can count indirect and induced jobs to satisfy job creation requirements. This also increases the chances of the investor receiving US permanent residency.

– Reduces the responsibilities of the investor. They can focus on managing a limited partnership with the new commercial enterprise.

– Investors are exposed to experts in regional centres.

Finally, the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act will help to reduce fraud and increase protection for investors. However, it may make it harder for applicants to invest due to stricter requirements after 30th June 2021.
