Basseterre, St. Kitts (August 7, 2010) — The distinguished former Prime Minister of Barbados, the Right Hon. Owen Arthur was in St. Kitts and Nevis to carry out an assignment on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme UNDP. A similar assignment has been done for Grenada. CUOPM used the opportunity of Mr. Arthur’s presence in St. Kitts and Nevis to interview him on his experience on the introduction of the Value Added Tax (VAT) which he introduced in Barbados when he was the Prime Minister in 1997. He said he had supported the introduction of VAT while he was Leader of the Opposition.
