Senate Democrats have come up with several options for “Plan B” after Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough rejected their Pathway To Citizenship immigration provisions in the budget reconciliation bill. The three primary options include updating the immigration registry, updating Section 245(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, and giving undoumented immigrants a “recognized status.” At the same time, progressives and immigration advocates are calling for Senate Democrats to overrule the parliamentarian or fire her.
