Session: Integration, social cohesion, acquiring Greek citizenship: an assessment of recent legislative developments
Mr. Tsitselikis, Professor of International Law, Department of Balkan, Slavic & Oriental Studies, University of Macedonia, spoke about social exclusion as a phenomenon which could affect larger parts of a society. He underlined the several additional difficulties that migrants and refugees are facing such as housing, language and knowledge of the sociopolitical framework. In relation to the granting of citizenship he highlighted the differences between typical and substantial legality referring to the actual constraints, people acquired citizenship continue to face both by the social services as well as the society.
