According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, approximately 50,000 green cards and 75,000 other employment authorization documents promised to immigrants haven’t been printed yet. USCIS was getting these legal documents printed from external agencies. However, owing to the financial crunch it is going through, USCIS is currently unable to meet with the massive printing demand. As per U.S. laws, U.S. permanent residents or green card holders need to carry this document with them at all times to prove their legal residency. USCIS has requested a $1.2 billion loan from Congress to meet with the current demands. Meanwhile, immigration experts tend to believe that USCIS may authorize green card recipients to use of their electronic confirmation notice in lieu of their green card for employment and other purposes. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
