Turkey just announced it’s new citizenship by investment program where investors of any nationality can become Turkish citizens by investing in the country.
As the Turkish lira hits earth-shattering lows against the dollar, Turkey needs foreign investment, particularly in its real estate sector.
How to get Turkish citizenship by investment? There are four ways:
1. Invest $1 million in real estate and hold it.
2. Invest $2 million in equity capital.
3. Deposit $3 million in a Turkish bank term deposit for three years.
4. Hire 100 employees.
Andrew thinks that lower requirements in more attractive countries make this program something of a non-starter.
However, he does believe that non-westerners – particularly in the Gulf States – may be inspired to speed up investments in Turkey to get their “bonus” second passport.
Andrew thinks this program is probably a “miss” for more western investors seeking dual citizenship.
