Macedonia police step up migrant passport checks

(25 Feb 2016) Security checks at the Greek-Macedonian border became tighter on Thursday.
Austrian police have been thoroughly checking travel documents and passports, allowing only refugees from war-torn Syria and Iraq to cross into Macedonia from Greece.
Hundreds were allowed into Macedonia since early Thursday morning.
Among them many children and disabled people.
At a reception centre in Gevgelija, the Macedonian Red Cross reported a rise in cold-related health conditions such as hypothermia and frost bites.
