Lisbon — the national capital of Portugal — is the oldest city in Western Europe and one of the oldest in the world. It’s always been an international hub: Julius Caesar valued its status and today Lisbon is a truly global city because of its importance in finance, commerce, entertainment, tourism, trade, the arts, and education.

Lisbon is built on seven hills stretching along the northern banks of the River Tagus. It enjoys mild winters, hot summers, and a really buzzing contemporary cultural climate.

We always love coming here. There’s such a variety of things to see and do. From the wide leafy boulevards to the winding streets of the oldest districts, you can find everything: very chic shops, upscale hotels, all kinds of restaurants and cafes and bars; not to mention museums, art galleries, cultural centres, parks, gardens, magnificent architecture and stunning views. Not forgetting a thriving nightlife to suit all tastes.

Virtually every other town and city has direct transport links to the capital. And when you get here the excellent public transport network and pedestrianized areas mean you can get anywhere you want quickly, cheaply and safely.
