Component 3 of The Sustainable Pathways Protected Areas and Renewable Energy project, as funded by The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) is well on its way to being completed. The funds received have allowed for the purchase of 15 hurricane resistant wind turbines to help increase the resilience of Antigua and Barbuda’s desalination based freshwater systems and reduce the emissions profile of these facilities by providing them with renewable energy. Thanks to IRENA & ADFD’s investment, the water sector in Antigua and Barbuda is will have the capacity to function solely on renewable energy.
