How Does Your Citizenship Impact Your Investment Options? Are there some investment limitations based on your citizenship?
Recently, we had a call with an American client who’s thinking about renouncing his US citizenship. He was worried that renouncing his American citizenship might limit his investment options. Is that true?
Actually, it’s quite the opposite. As an American, he is not allowed to make certain investments abroad therefore renouncing will actually open more doors to him when it comes to investing internationally.
How does it work for other countries? Do you have certain investing limitations if you’re Canadian, Australian, or if you come from an EU country? What are these limitations and why?
