About 100 British and Spanish citizens gathered in Madrid’s Margaret Thatcher Square to demand a second Brexit referendum on Saturday, after a week of twists and turns leading to an extension of the Brexit deadline.
The protesters, predominantly British expats, chanted anti-Brexit slogans in both English and Spanish, while holding up signs celebrating their European-ness.
71-year old British demonstrator Margaret lamented the impact that the uncertainty surrounding Brexit has had on her life.
“It’s just this constant, constant uncertainty that is really, really worrying. We can’t organise our lives for the future because we don’t know what we’re going to be faced with,” she said.
Meantime, hundreds of thousands of Britons marched in London to demand a second people’s vote on Brexit.
