What to do if you lost your passport. First thing is to make sure you lost it, retrace your steps to make sure it is really gone, because if you report a lost passport and then find the passport it is invalid. So be sure it is gone. Next call your embassy or consulate to report the lost passport. Next visit the local police and file a missing passport or property form. Then head to your local embassy or consulate nearest you and apply for a new passport. Make sure to make photo copies of your passport to give to your family and have hidden away on yourself in case you do lose your passport.
