Anyone who is working in United States on certain non-immigrant working visa, if that person loses his/her employment can bring serious repercussions on the person’s visa status. However, as of January 17, 2017, foreign professionals under the non-immigrant workers will have up to 60-day grace period if their employment is terminated. Under this Final Rule, this grace period can be used to find another employer, change visa status, or leave the country to avoid being “out of status.”
