Dr Eddie L. Copelin II, M.D, AUA alumni, talks about why he chose to study in a Caribbean medical school. He also describes how AUA prepared him for residency. Eddie L. Copelin, a Retired Sergeant from the United States Marine Corps, is now an internal medicine resident at the Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence, RI.
As he shares his reasons for choosing to study at the AUA, Eddie says, “The things that I learned about the school which made me choose AUA, one, that their mission statement was to encourage diversity within medicine, which is really a big one for me. Also, the clinical aspects which was tremendous – at a brand new campus, state-of-the-art, a lot of technology – which is awesome. Coming to the state-side of clinical rotation sites, very hands-on – multiple sites throughout the East Coast and also the didactics that we learned in the training sites was crucial.”
Eddie goes on to talk about the hands-on and in-depth learning experience at AUA. He also describes a typical day of his residency. Eddie elaborates on his clinical rotation at the hospital and his work with the primary care physicians.
