Which countries can enter to Turkey without a valid passport?
In this video I will briefly talk about this topic.
For those foreigners who want to enter Turkey legally by getting a visa, an e-visa or benefiting from a visa exemption, holding a valid passport in necessary. In addition, the validity of the passport must be for a certain period of time not just for the date of application to visa or entrance to Turkey. Otherwise, you will get a refusal on your visa application or your entrance to Turkey may be denied at the airport gates.
As a general rule, you are kindly advised to have a travel document/passport which is valid for at least 6 months as from the date of your arrival to Turkey. I have to underline that this is not the date of application to visa but the date of entrance from the Turkish borders.
However, citizens of certain countries are allowed to enter Turkey with their national ID’s. These are passport holders of Germany, Belgium, France, Georgia, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malta, Portugal, Ukraine and Greece. If you are a citizen of the mentioned countries you can travel to Turkey via your national ID card.
In addition, citizens of some certain countries are allowed to enter Turkey with their expired passports as well. As an example, for citizens of Germany, it is possible to enter Turkey with passports expired within the last year, as well as, national ID’s expired within the last year.
If you are a citizen of Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland, Luxemburg a Portugal you can travel and enter to Turkey with a passport expired within the last five years.
Aside of the mentioned country citizens, all foreigners who want to enter to Turkey legally are required to have a valid passport for at least 6 months as from the date of your arrival to Turkey.
