After participating in the mercury assessment project “Minamata Initial Assessment in the Caribbean”, the Government of Saint Lucia has decided to become Party to the Minamata Convention.

The Minamata Convention on Mercury is a global treaty designed to protect human health and the environment from the toxic chemical element, mercury.

This project was funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by the UN-Environment and executed by the Basel Convention Regional Centre for the Caribbean (BCRC-Caribbean).
