How to Renew Spanish Residency for the First Time (Filipino): Living in Spain

This is a personal experience on how I renew my Spanish Residency for the first time here in Barcelona Spain.

Mid June I submitted my application for renewal, a month before my resident visa expires. I received the letter of approval early or mid October. I immediately went to ‘locutorio’, an agency that process appointments/cita etc. I waited about a week as there weren’t many available schedules. They could also print the ‘tax’ you need to pay in a bank (went to La Caixa in my case) just about 15.76€. My appointment at National Police office to do my ‘thumbmark’ is today, and I brought Letter of Approval/Carta, passport, old NIE/Spanish Resident Card, one photo (as required size for renewal), the paid ‘tax’, and the cita/appointment.

There was a long queue when I arrived at the office in Rambla Guiposcoa 76, so better to go earlier than your schedule.

The new Spanish resident card is expected to be released within a month, the staff said, and I couldn’t travel by plane yet, unless I get a letter of permission to travel. By the way I got my Spanish resident visa by ‘arraigo social’ process.

Thanks for watching, if it’s helpful, please like, share, leave a comment and subscribe. This again is only based on my experience, we may not have the same. Thank you very much and God bless!
