1:07 – Representative Option

The first option is to become a representative of an overseas business.

Foreign nationals willing to open a branch office of an existing company, are eligible to apply for this program with no minimum investment required.

You must not be a majority shareholder of the existing company, and the company must have been actively trading for a minimum of 1 year to be eligible for this program.

Initially, you are granted a temporary visa for 3 years and is extendable for a further 2 years.

With the approval of this visa, your spouse and children under 18 years old are also eligible for residency.

After holding the temporary visa for 5 years, you are eligible to apply for a permanent residency and after 12 months, you can apply for British Citizenship.

The second investment option is to launch a startup.

The startup visa is designed for individuals that want to launch a startup company in the UK and is a replacement for the Graduate Entrepreneur Visa.

If you are granted this visa, you should intend to spend the majority of your working time in the United Kingdom and developing your business venture, but you will not be restricted from undertaking other work.

To be granted a Startup visa, you are required to propose a new business idea that meets innovation, viability and scalability requirements.

Additionally, you must obtain a letter from an approved endorsement body to submit together with your application.

You are also required to prove the credibility of your business proposal to the government.

It is important to note that the Startup visa cannot be extended and will never lead to permanent settlement. It is strictly limited to 2 years, after which you are required to leave the country or apply for a different type of visa, called an innovator visa.

The innovator visa can also be a separate investment option.

This option is for more experienced business people seeking to establish a business in the United Kingdom. Before you apply, you need to have your business or business idea assessed by an endorsement body.

They will provide you with an endorsement letter if your business or business idea is viable.

You are required to have a minimum of 50,000 British pounds in your bank account for 90 consecutive days before you apply.

Once the application is approved, you will be granted residence for three years. If you meet the extension requirements, you can then apply to extend your stay and apply for a permanent residence afterwards.
