#1 Immigration Backlog Surges in October.
After trending downwards, the immigrant visa blog surged by nearly 4% in October, from around 385,000 pending cases in September to 399,000 cases this month.
The number of green card applicants who were ready to be scheduled for interviews but were still waiting also increased by more than 18,000.
In positive news, the State Department scheduled 11% more green card interviews in October compared to last month.
#2 Migrant Transfers Continue Across the U.S. Despite Controversy.
This week marks one month since Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sparked a nationwide debate by flying 50 unsuspecting migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard, with false promises of housing, work, and cash assistance upon arrival.
Despite criminal implications and pending lawsuits, DeSantis’ administration announced plans to continue flying migrants to Democratic strongholds, reiterating that Florida’s “immigration relocation program remains active.”
Two sets of flights are set to transfer more than 100 migrants to Delaware and Illinois in the coming weeks.
