POP (Present Occupant Project) runs an artist residency programme – #POPAR – during the period of ‘KAZANIA’ (Cauldrons) in Korinos, Pieria, Greece. This is in collaboration with the local cultural association of Eastern Rumelia. ‘To Kalesma’ (the invitation) is part of the association’s annual events and it marks the beginning of the ‘tsipouro’ distillation process. Easternrumelian members dressed in traditional costumes go out in the village and offer ‘tsipouro’ and ‘meze’ to people with music, songs and dances the night before the ‘tsipouro fest’. The group ends up outside the association’s cauldron facilities where everybody celebrates the beginning of the ‘Kazania’ season.
